Computer Keyboarding & Literacy Instructor
I am a graduate of JHS Class of 1987!
Associates Degree in Business Management from NE0 A&M College, Miami, OK in May of 1989
Bachelors Degree in Business Education with an Endorsement in K-8 from NSU, Tahlequah, OK 1993
I am certified to teach:
I also attended NTC occasionally. I love to learn! And I love the vocational/technical setting! I enjoyed 9 months in their LPN program, but sadly life happened and I took a leave of absence and haven't returned. I did though just attend and complete their course in Phlebotomy and become an OK State Certified Phlebotomist! :-)
I love attending the Solution Tree workshops – especially those taught by Meg Ormiston; I really love Great Expectations training courses; plus I love-love taking any courses at our local vocational-technical college NTC!
This is my third time teaching at Jay (I’m always determined to come back home). This time around I have been teaching at JMS since August 2002.
I will be teaching your child Computer Keyboarding and Computer Literacy. Some years I teach Journalism and sometimes I teach Personal Financial Literacy. Occasionally I get to teach or oversee another subject such as Edgenuity Spanish or Khan Academy Pre-Algebra. It doesn't matter---I love teaching new things as much as I love being a student and learning new things; so I'm even excited when I get to learn anything new along with my students.
I now have my last child enrolled in our school: Cadince is my 16 year-old Jay High School Sophmore – she is the last of my four children to attend JPS. My sons Cal (Bulldog Class of 2014) and Case (Bulldog Class of 2016) are college students at my alma mater - NSU; this is Case’s Senior Year. My oldest daughter Camrine works full time as the City Clerk of the City of Jay. And very important-she is the mother of my grand daughter, Rhymee Grace, who is Amazing and is a 5th Grade Bulldog; 3 year-old Michael Cru, and 2 year-old Aubrey Lynn – who are both future Bulldogs! I also have a grand that doesn’t live in Jay: Avery Reece who lives in Owasso.
My children also have a step brother in Jay Schools and playing Bulldog sports now too. Cole Oswalt is a Senior JHS; and Carter Oswalt is a graduate of Jay High School Class of 2016 with Case, and is now in his Senior Year at the University of Arkansas.
Our pet family includes the only good cat in the world-Salem and our English Bulldog ZuZu; our farm/guard dog Chief, and numerous farm/show animals.
I LOVE spending time with my kids! That's what God put me here for!
If I'm not at school, I am usually at a school function or sporting event watching my own kids or my school kids...rooting for the Bulldogs!!!
If I am actually completely away from school, my hobbies are still doing anything with my kids, friends, and family or other kids. I spend most of that time camping somewhere. We also love to gig, float, swim; pretty much anything that is near or on a creek, lake, or even a pool-and ideally on a beach somewhere (which doesn't happen near often enough)! Plus I have discovered kayaking this summer and love that it involves both exercise and relaxation – – I enjoy that I can go with friends or family or get away alone. As a family we are also big movies watchers; we go to theaters and rent at home. My only other hobby is that I LOVE To Read!--I try to instill that interest in my students by discussing and sharing books with them, and gearing projects around reading.
